Reading Roundup from the Past Week
**the majority of these books were received free from publishers**
The Glitch is my very favorite kind of quirky, smart book that leaves me thinking for a LONG time afterward about the societal impacts of the technology in our lives.
Campaign Widows gave me just the politics and juicy drama to help get through a long work week ~ it reminded me a lot of a reality show, which can be one of my favorite escapes during crazy times in my life!
The Way You Make Me Feel is another fabulous story from Maureen Goo. I adored her first book from the spring of 2017, and this one has that same tone in a story of food trucks and father-daughter relationships……oh, and first love.
I honestly don’t know if there has ever been an audiobook with a narrator with a British accent that I haven’t loved……and The Cactus just solidified my love for British voices telling me stories. A heartwarming story about a prickly woman discovering the softer sides of life and other humans.
Small Country wasn’t a fun read and it wasn’t a happy read, but it WAS an enlightening read about the horrific violence in Burundi and Rwanda, told from the POV of a young boy. I’m glad I chose it for one of my May Book of the Month picks.
Yay! How to Walk away is the featured book this week for the BookSparks Summer Reading Challenge and I read it SO fast! It’s a story about overcoming obstacles with some major family drama and romance thrown in – if you are looking for a book to inhale during a long beach session or a airplane ride this summer, definitely throw this one in your bag.
I also featured these two books over on my Instagram this past weekend in a giveaway to celebrate their paperback release earlier in May. I have them both in hardcover and need to actually READ them soon!
And to close things out this week……..if you missed my piece on Frolic yesterday, please do go and check it out!
Are we connected on Goodreads, Instagram and Twitter? If not, let’s fix that!
